A little Barbara Kruger to start the day

BARBARA KRUGER
Barbara Kruger (born January 26, 1945) is anAmerican conceptual artist. Much of her work consists of black and white photographs overlaid with declarative captions—in white-on-red Futura Bold Oblique. The phrases in her works often include use of pronouns such as "you", "your", "I", "we", and "they".

So influential in my Art School Days and still her work has relevance.

Amy Vanderbilt scone recipe

Look what I made

yesterdays efforts with homemade compote

I made scones yesterday afternoon and I really still cant believe how easy they were to make. The fact that I made really light fluffy ones was super exciting. Im not that good at baking! They make a nice Sunday breakfast too.
Amy Vanderbilts Cookbook is a wonderful collection of useful recipes with easy to follow instructions there is some ingredients substitution with the scones I used butter and Self Raising flour instead of shortening and all purpose flour/baking soda.
Yesterday we enjoyed warm scones with a berry compote (I had run out of jam so made my own) and plain yoghurt which I think taste like cream when enjoyed with berries.

For the compote:
I used half a cup of frozen berries and a dash of icing sugar (helps it to go syrupy) boiled it down for 5 mins and cooled in the freezer DELISH!

Iam so getting into baking and cooking and really enjoying the experience :)

PS: The cookbook has the added bonus of illustrations by a young Andrew Warhol.

Sketchbook Project 2012

Its been almost a year since my last post I just made it under by a day........Ive had a tumultuous 12 months of moving house, starting a new job, getting sick, then getting well, planning my new venture, setting up a studio and committing to my art you could say head down bum up 12 months.
I cant think of a better re-entry into blog world other than the Sketchbook Project event run by the arthousecoop mob (Calls for the 2013 project is now open).
I decided to enter this year and what turned into months of staring at the empty little book that was sent to me I finally started AND more importantly finished it ready to be sent to New York. When I finished the artwork all I wanted to do was snap it and share it with you all if you are still there!

Im posting my favourite spread from the sketchbook and will post the rest on Saturday.
It has been a looooooooooooong time but Im back and ready to share my ideas and thoughts and objects! with you all.

I have lots of news and things to show you yes I have been squirrelling away all kinds of post ideas.
But for time being enjoy the pics and maybe you would like to pop over and check out some of the other entries for the SKBK project 2012. The depth of creativity shown is breathtaking to say the least.
